Shared Hosting in Jammu: cPanel Website Guide for Hotels, Travel Agents and Rice Traders
For most Jammu businesses, from a guest house near the railway station to a Katra yatra travel agent or an RS Pura basmati trader, cPanel shared hosting is enough to run a fast WordPress site, an enquiry or booking form and email at your own domain. Pick the plan by how many websites you need, set up SSL, email and backups before you build pages, and plan for the pilgrimage season when enquiries peak.
Why Jammu businesses need a proper website
Wikipedia's article on Jammu calls tourism the largest industry in the city. Jammu is the focal point for pilgrims travelling to Vaishno Devi and onwards to the Kashmir Valley, and Katra, the base town for the yatra, is 49 km away. That brings a steady stream of visitors who search for hotels, taxis, packages and helicopter or darshan information on their phones before they arrive.
The article lists other strands of the economy too. Basmati rice grown around RS Pura is processed in the city's rice mills, and the Bari Brahmana industrial estate has many units making carpets and electronic goods. Jammu is the winter capital of Jammu and Kashmir from November to April, which adds government and administrative traffic in those months, and the city is home to IIT Jammu, the University of Jammu and Government Medical College, Jammu.
Each of these groups uses a website differently:
- Hotels and guest houses: room photos, tariffs, a booking or enquiry form, directions and WhatsApp or phone links.
- Travel agents and taxi operators: yatra packages, vehicle lists, seasonal notices and enquiry forms.
- Rice mills and traders: a product catalogue, packing options, certifications and contact details for distributors and export buyers.
- Bari Brahmana manufacturers: a company profile, product range and a vendor or dealer enquiry page.
- Coaching centres and clinics near the colleges and hospital: timings, courses, staff profiles and appointment requests.
Which Soft2Hosting plan fits?
All Soft2Hosting cPanel plans are billed yearly, use NVMe storage and include free SSL.
| Plan | What it includes | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| Starter Pro, Rs 2,499 per year | 1 website, 10 GB NVMe, 100 GB bandwidth, 5 email accounts, 5 databases, free auto SSL, weekly backup | A single guest house, clinic or small trader site |
| Business Pro Hosting, Rs 4,999 per year | 10 websites, 50 GB NVMe, unmetered bandwidth, unlimited email and databases, free SSL, daily backup, LiteSpeed with cache, basic DDoS protection | A hotel with a separate site for its restaurant, or a travel agent running several package sites |
| Enterprise Pro Hosting, Rs 7,999 per year | Unlimited websites, 100 GB NVMe, unmetered bandwidth, unlimited email and databases, daily backup and restore, LiteSpeed with Redis cache, advanced DDoS protection, priority support | Agencies and groups managing many client or brand sites |
For a hotel that gets most of its enquiries in the yatra season, the daily backup and LiteSpeed cache on Business Pro are worth the step up: a busy month is the worst time to lose a week of bookings or have pages load slowly.
Setting up the site in cPanel
1. Add the domain
Your main domain is set when the account is created. On Business Pro or Enterprise Pro, add further sites from the cPanel Domains page with Create a New Domain; the page also shows how much of your domain quota is used, and the Manage button lets you change a domain's document root later.
2. Turn on HTTPS
Once the free certificate is active, switch on Force HTTPS Redirect for the domain in the Domains page. cPanel only allows it on a domain with a valid SSL certificate, so wait for the padlock first.
3. Create business email
In Email Accounts, click Create and add addresses such as bookings@ or sales@ at your domain. The Connect Devices option shows the settings for phones and mail apps, and Check Email opens webmail in the browser. Starter Pro includes five accounts; the higher plans include unlimited email.
4. Install WordPress and a booking or enquiry form
Keep the form simple: name, phone, travel dates, number of guests and a message. Send form emails to a domain address, not a free webmail inbox, so replies look trustworthy.
5. Check backups before you build
Confirm the plan's backup schedule and download your own copy after the site is finished and again before each season.
Getting ready for the pilgrimage season
- Compress room and vehicle photos before upload; phone users on mobile data feel every extra megabyte.
- Turn on page caching. On Business Pro and Enterprise Pro, the LiteSpeed Cache plugin handles this.
- Put the phone number and WhatsApp link at the top of every page.
- Update tariffs and seasonal notices before the rush, not during it.
- Test the enquiry form from a phone on mobile data, end to end.
Launch checklist
- Domain resolves and the site loads on HTTPS with no warnings.
- Business email sends and receives on both phone and laptop.
- Enquiry form delivers to the right address.
- A backup exists and you know how to restore it.
- Google Business Profile links to the new site.
